NIH-Protein Biotechnology Program

Collaborate with expert researchers in the NIH-Protein Biotechnology Program that offers interdisciplinary training to enhance the graduate experience and produce versatile scientists and engineers to address the future needs of biotechnology in academia, industry, and government service.

Civil and Environmental Engineering

Enroll in a program that US News named one of the top thirty among public research universities. Conduct research at the Wood Materials Engineering Laboratory, an interdisciplinary facility that has received international acclaim during its more than five-decade history. Collaborate with industry, government, and other universities through the College of Engineering and Architecture. Develop new building materials from a range of recycled and virgin resources and participate in the development of innovative structural systems.

Molecular Plant Sciences

Professor John Browse

Gain a deep understanding of how plants work through the integration of plant biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and plant physiology. Collaborate with expert faculty who are members of the National Academy of Sciences. Graduate students can implement metabolic engineering to enhance chemopreventative compounds in plants and study across disciplines with scholars from other degree programs. Receive expert mentorship from the most highly-cited plant and animal sciences researchers in the world (Thomson ISI).

Sociology

Professor Eugene Rosa

Conduct research in a department that consistently ranks among the top graduate programs in the nation. Draft papers at the editorial home for several sociological journals, including American Sociological Review, Criminology , and the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion. Receive expert mentorship from faculty recognized by the American Sociological Association for their research, teaching, and service to the community. Conduct research at the Small Groups Laboratory or in the Social and Economic Sciences Research Center. 

Veterinary Sciences

Wendy Brown from veterinary science

Study at one of the nation's top veterinary schools where you'll gain access to one of the world's best-equipped veterinary hospitals with faculty respected world-wide. Conduct research at the Animal Disease Biotechnology Facility that houses offices for the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and research labs. Participate in ongoing faculty research programs that focus on the infectious diseases of animals including microbiological, genomic, pathologic, gene expression, immunologic, and parasitologic approaches.

Psychology

Fran McSweeney professor of psychology

Enroll in a program fully accredited by the American Psychological Association. Conduct research in the psychology program, one of the oldest in the west, with a reputation for producing highly-skilled experimental and applied psychologists. Collaborate with research faculty who are working with the US Air Force to better understand how pilots perceive motion when they fly over featureless landscapes. Receive focused training with emphases in neuropsychology, clinical health psychology, and psychopathology. Take advantage of extensive research opportunities, typically resulting in publications, presentations, and the chance to be placed in top internships nationwide.  

Anthropology

Anthropology prof Karen Lupo and grad students

Earn your degree in archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, and evolutionary anthropology.Study issues involving international development, psychological anthropology, cultural ecology, medical anthropology, and gender. You may gain an understanding of specialities including paleoecology/palynology, quantitative methods, modeling and simulation, lithic analysis, geo-archaeology, and zooarchaeology. Graduate students study across disciplines with faculty from biological and sociocultural anthropology, as well as archaeology.
